In a working-class neighborhood of Ouagadougou lives a widowed grandmother who harbors a painful secret: she was once forced to marry a man she did not love. Forty-five years later, her heart still beats for her first great love. Her granddaughter Natie, a teenager struggling with her identity, discovers her grandmother\u2019s passion and does everything she can to bring the two lovers together \u2013 while also finding her own path.
LES INVERTUEUSES is much more than just a love story. The film tells the story of the emancipation of two women in a Burkina Faso marked by insecurity, drastic security measures, and internally displaced people streaming into the cities. The story unfolds against the backdrop of the country\u2019s fight against terrorism, driven by a desire for freedom and self-determination.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHLO\u00c9 A\u00cfCHA BORO<\/strong> (*1978) grew up in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. She studied modern literature and began a career as a journalist, writing for Burkinabe magazines and newspapers such as La Voix du Sahel and Le Marabout, and published her first novel Paroles Orpheline in 2006. Gradually, Boro turned to filmmaking, working as an assistant director and presenter. In 2012, she directed her first film, SUR LES TRACES DE SALIMATA. Her first feature-length documentary, FARAFIN KO, followed in 2014. In 2017, she directed FRANCE-AUREVOIR, LE NOUVEAU COMMERCE TRIANGULAIRE, which won Best Documentary at the Festival International de Cin\u00e9ma Vues d\u2019Afrique in Montreal. In 2019, she released LE LOUP D\u2019OR DE BALOL\u00c9, a documentary about workers in the Balol\u00e9 quarry and the effects of the 2014 political revolution; it won Best Documentary at FESPACO. AL DJANAT: THE ORIGINAL PARADISE (2023) follows her return to Burkina Faso after her uncle\u2019s death. The film premiered at FESPACO 2023 and was later screened at international festivals, including winning Best African Documentary at the Encounters South Africa International Documentary Film Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
